When Natural Disaster Strikes

I have experienced and seen several floods here in the city where I live.  The past floods are manageable.  I only seen heavy floods where people are killed, missing, houses are destroyed and many other properties in other parts of my country.  I never thought that my city will experienced the same flood.  Last June 28, 2011 at around 10:30 in the evening, people awaken by heavy rains and thunder.  On the next minutes, flash floods are washing out cars, houses and other properties.  The residents of the affected areas caught unaware and was shocked seeing water coming inside their houses.  I felt really sad seeing those victims losing their house.  It is really a devastating experience the city could ever have.  The painful experienced I must say.  Some are crying looking at their dead family member and others are crying of their lost love ones.

Some are blaming the government because of lacking of facilities to rescue the victims.  And some are saying this is the sign of what they called ‘the end of the world’.  I do not think there is nothing to do with end of the world and the government faults.  If we are to think about it, this is the result of what we call progress.  Many are cutting trees in the upper area of the city and converted the area into housing project.  No more trees to hold the water that comes from heavy rains.  I hope that people/government will realized it so that no more painful experience such as this.  We have to think of preserving out nature, because when natural disaster strikes no one is exempted.  We all suffer especially the young ones.  What had happened last June 28, 2011 is a lesson learned for everybody. We should do our part as residents of this city to have clean and green environment, to avoid another flash floods that kills people.
