119th Independence Day in the Philippines

Independence day is one of the significant events in the Philippine history.   Because it marks our independence from Spanish rule.  This Independence Day celebrates by the Filipino people annually on June 12.  This is the day wherein many people participates in different activities in the country.  There are programs and activities in the city hall, parks, streets and the likes.  The highligths of this celebration is the police and military parade in Manila and the 21-gun salute.  Of course this celebration is headed by the country’s president.  This significant day of the country is observed by the filipino communities.  For this day is the day where we can say we are finally free.

Yesterday was the 119th years of Philippine Independence.  This is one sad celebration I must say because of the crisis that the country is facing now.  Some area in the country particularly in Mindanao is still on war.  Many lives has been sacrifice just to achieve peace against the Maute group (terrorist).  Today, the country is giving tribute to those 58 brave men who fought and lost their lives for the country.  It is really sad knowing that we are all brothers and sisters and living in one country but fighting.  I pray that this will be over soon so that we can live in peace and harmony.  I so wish that love and forgiveness will prevail and that God will heal all the wounds in our hearts and healour country for us to have a better place to live.

Let us support her instead

The 2016 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant will be on the 30th of January 2017 which will be held in Manila, Philippines.  Everybody is so excited to witness the much awaited beauty pageant.  We have seen in the television, news, social media, and the likes the activities of the Miss Universe contestants.  I must say that they are all stunning, pretty, and glamorous.  It would be a great fight with beauty and brain.  Of course I am betting for my country’s representative Miss Maxine Medina from the Philippines.  She could put up a good fight.  Like all other ladies, she has a big chance.  But of course it is all in God and judges hands.

Sad to say, for the past weeks the country’s bet is receiving bad comments, write ups with her own countrymen.  It is so sad that instead of supporting her they are the one who drag her down.  The attitude that we should not let it control us.  We must admit that we are not perfect.  We do commit mistakes in our life.  Nobody is perfect as they say.  Miss Philippines is also human, she commits mistakes, did something that is not pleasant to our eyes and ears, but let us remember that she is representing our country.  If we bash her, how can she gain self-confidence on the coronation night when we are giving our full support.  Let us support her instead of bashing her because she is representing the country for all of us.  Go Philippines! GO Maxine!

Let him rest in peace

After 27 years of waiting, finally the former Philippine President and dictatorship Ferdinand Marcos buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani (a cemetery where Filipino heroes, army, policemen, Presidents/politician are buried).  His family is patiently waiting for almost three decade waiting for this day to come.  Some are against of him buried in the Libingan nga mga Bayani because of what he did in the past.  The people never forgets the martial law he declared years back.  Many are who go against him are missing, and their families are seeking for justice up to now.  They are protesting of President Duterte’s decision to bury him in the Libingan ng mga bayani because to them he is not a hero.

Yesterday was the burial of the former President Ferdinand Marcos.  Protesters are angry and making noise.  They are blaming the supreme court for allowing it to happen and angry of President Duterte’s decision.  For me, even though he did wrong things in the past he still have the right to be buried in the LNMB, because he is a former President of the country and a member of the arm forces of the Philippines before he became the President.  Let us not dwell on the things in the past that hinders us to move on.  We have to forget and forgive.  Let him rest in peace as well as those victims in the martial law.  Instead of protesting, we have to continue moving on for better future, and let us punish him for wrong doings he did when he is still alive.  Stop the hate, make peace and let us support President Duterte for better Philippines.

Once again the beauty and brain of the Filipino prevail in the recently concluded Miss International 2016 held in Tokyo, Japan.  The Philippine’s bet Kylie Versoza bring home the 6th Miss International crown for the country.  Kylie Verzosa proves to everybody that she has beauty and brain.  I am praying that the country’s bet will be chosen as one of the semi-finalist.  Being in the semi-finalist is a big achievement knowing that there are lots of women who has beauty and brain hoping to bring home the crown and make their country proud.  But Kylie did not only make it to the semi-final, she did emerged as the queen of the night.  She bagged the crown and makes the country well-known internationally when it comes to beauty and brain.

Watching the live streaming of the pageant is nerve-racking, thinking that there are lots of beautiful women competing for their respective countries.  Even though, I am still hoping and praying that Kylie will bring home the crown.  She looks really beautiful and confidently showed to everybody that she has the edge to wear the crown.  She walks in the stage smiling and smart.  And on the final question and answer, Kylie Verzosa nailed it.  She answered the question really well.  She answered with the heart on why she is the perfect one to wear the crown and that she is ready to wear the crown.  And indeed she brings home the 6th Miss International crown for the country.  Kylie Verzosa crowned Miss International 2016.  Congratulations Kylie, congratulations Philippines!
